Project Overview

Mainstream Fiber Networks is an Indiana-based fiber internet provider serving communities across 15 counties. Sage rebuilt the company’s website from the ground up to make a growing regional network easier to find, understand, and buy from.

The project started with a complete content and SEO audit, followed by a new information architecture, mobile-first UX/UI, content strategy, and a full migration from HubSpot to WordPress. The new site gives Residential, Business, and Community audiences clear paths to the right services while putting availability checks at the center of the customer journey.

Dedicated service-area pages now support local search across Mainstream’s footprint, support resources have been consolidated into one hub, learning content has moved onto the primary domain, and overlapping legacy URLs were merged or redirected. The result is a scalable website built around search visibility, clearer conversion paths, cleaner technical SEO, and faster access to sign-up.

Bringing the Vision to Life

For Mainstream Fiber Networks, Sage brought strategy, design, content, and functionality together into a cohesive digital experience built around the project’s goals and audience.

The Challenge

Mainstream’s service footprint had outgrown the structure of its website. The company served communities across Indiana, but the legacy site did not provide dedicated service-area pages for its full county footprint, leaving valuable local search intent without a strong destination.

The content architecture had accumulated similar problems. Support information was spread across multiple URLs, learning content lived separately from the primary site, overlapping pages competed for the same topics, and important company information was grouped into pages trying to serve too many purposes.

A technical and content audit also identified inconsistent heading structures, thin and duplicated content, incomplete metadata, conflicting canonicals, and legacy URLs that required a deliberate migration strategy. Mainstream needed more than a visual redesign. It needed a website architecture capable of supporting continued regional growth.

Our Proposed Solution

Sage proposed a full website rebuild rather than a visual refresh. The team audited every legacy page and assigned a clear action: keep, redesign, merge, migrate, or redirect. That inventory became the foundation for the new sitemap before design work began.

The new architecture focused on four priorities: local discovery, faster plan selection, self-service support, and scalable content. Dedicated county pages would give Mainstream a search destination for each service area. At the same time, Residential, Business, and Community offerings would become distinct customer journeys with Check Availability treated as the primary conversion action throughout the site.

Support resources would be consolidated under one hub, learning content would move onto the primary domain, and company content would receive dedicated destinations. The platform would also move from HubSpot to WordPress, with legacy equity protected through redirect mapping, canonical cleanup, structured data, and a cleaner technical SEO foundation.

How We Delivered

Work began with a page-by-page audit of the legacy site. We reviewed content depth, duplication, search intent, canonicalization, metadata, internal linking, and the role each URL played in the customer journey. That audit became the source of truth for both the sitemap and migration map.

Sage then designed and developed a mobile-first WordPress experience around Mainstream’s three primary audiences. A reusable service-area system was used to launch dedicated county pages with plan information and direct availability checks. Residential was reorganized around three primary plan tiers and supporting home products, while Business received four connectivity tiers plus solutions such as ConnectStream and SmartTown. Community received dedicated paths for apartments, HOAs, and builders and developers.

Scattered help content was consolidated into a unified Support Center, learning content was brought onto the main domain, and dedicated About, Leadership, Careers, Community, and policy destinations were created. Legacy URLs were mapped into the new architecture instead of being abandoned.

Measurement was rebuilt alongside the website, including GA4, Meta, server-side tracking, and consolidated tag management. The site was also structured with semantic headings, canonical topic ownership, structured data, and machine-readable content patterns designed to support both traditional search and emerging AI-driven discovery.

The Results

Mainstream launched with a website architecture that now reflects the scale and complexity of the business. Fifteen Indiana service areas have dedicated destinations, giving location-based searches a relevant landing page and giving customers a direct path from service area to availability.

Residential, Business, and Community visitors now enter clearly separated product journeys. Support is centralized under one hub, learning content lives on the primary domain, and company information has dedicated destinations for leadership, careers, community involvement, and policies. Duplicate and retired URLs were consolidated through the migration plan rather than left to compete or break.

The new WordPress platform also gives Mainstream’s marketing team a more flexible publishing system, cleaner measurement infrastructure, and a scalable foundation for new counties, products, support resources, and campaigns without rebuilding the site architecture each time.
